In order of decreasing reliability:
- Supports FP32, FP16 and FX16 natively. Whether there is any performance difference between FP16 and FX16 is unknown, and whether there are any truly non-FP32 units is also unknown.
- 175M transistors, 600Mhz core clock, 1.5Ghz effective GDDR2 ( Samples already shipped to nV - 16 memory chips per board )
- Not taped-out yet, or if it did, tape-out failed. To tape-out sometime this month.
- 8 pipelines, Speculation: probably 8x2 and no 16 zixel trick ( not worth it with 4x+ AA, which is really a minimum with 48GB/s of bandwidth ) - Maybe such a bypass path for low-end models ( NV42/NV43 )
This means Christmas avaibility has IMO become absolutely out of the question. Best we can hope is for-developer documents for Comdex, or around then. And that's not a certainty.
Finally, Det50s probably are for the 15th, but I doubt that will mean public download - more like previews for AquaMark 3. That's the best case scenario - it might also be launched with the NV36 at Computex ( September 22-26 )

16-chips do NOT indicate a 512-bit bus. It just indicates that it's theorically possible if you put on the wires and memory controller - such a thing is also true for the NV35 since it also got such a number of chips.
175M figure is the "new" one. nVidia seems to have changed the transistor count figure of the NV40 in the last few months for reasons I'm not sure of yet.
8x2 actually makes sense to me because the technology nVidia is using in the NV30, and will most likely use in the NV40, is using the FPUs to do addressing. And FPUs can address two textures at the same time.
So unless the NV40 is ridiculously untraditional, which I doubt frankly, if it's a 8 pipeline design ( which has been said by several fairly reliable sources ) , then it's probably a 8x2.
Finally, Det50s, seems like my source wasn't clear the first time. It's "late this month", and thus, since the NV36 ( or NV38? I doubt that though ) will launch at Computex, makes sense to launch it at the same time - a preview for AquaMark 3 ain't out of the question, but I've yet to hear of any mag having Det50s already. That'd thus be 22-26.

specs zien er mooi uit, maar dat was met de FX5800 ook zo. Eerst reviews zien...
